The Story

Atsushi Iri was one of the top models at men’s egg, the gyaru-o magazine, before he started designing. He launched LED RECHWE out of Saitama in 2003. A year later he added VERONICA -under control- as its “Platinum line”, and it became the priciest of his labels: better fabric, with patterns worked out on toiles first. Both sold through his own shop, Wild Blue Angel, which opened a store in Daikanyama in 2006. His own site split the two lines cleanly. LED RECHWE was 1980s American rock, clothes meant to look worn in and dirty. VERONICA drew on the world’s tribal cultures and their faith. “Under control” was his idea that the culture we live in now might trace back to something some tribe once made for its gods. This pair has a lot going on, to put it lightly.
